BoomerangIt returns lost iPod® in Canada

May 7, 2010

We had a great return recently we’d like to share with you.

On April 17, an iPod® was reported found on our website by Baggage Services at Regina Airport, Canada. The report was filed by a staff member and said ‘This was found March 29 on an Air Canada aircraft from Calgary. Please have the owner contact us.’ We immediately matched the BoomerangIt ID label from the item to its owner and gave him a call. He was excited to hear from us (he knew he’d lost the iPod) and said he’ll contact Baggage Services. We followed up a week later to confirm he got the item back and here’s what he had to say.

Thanks so much – I have indeed received my iPod back!  I left it in the backseat pocket on a flight from Calgary to Regina. I had reported the loss to the airline, but it was a call two weeks later from BoomerangIt that suggested I call the airline to arrange return. They sent it back to my hometown of Vancouver and I picked it up from the Baggage department. I told the Baggage people about what had happened and they all wanted to hear about your company. I also have a couple of friends that said they were going to start using your service. Thanks again for your help!”

Mark P. Vancouver, Canada

We are happy another customer has benefited from our service which, as the story shows, works worldwide. We would like to thank the Good Samaritan who reported the find and everyone who helped in getting the item back to its rightful owner.

Sincerely,

 The Folks at BoomerangIt!

NBR bike and a pack

Bicycles are always a popular holiday gift, and BoomerangIt, the world’s leading lost & found recovery service, is helping protect shoppers’ bicycle purchases with one of its best-selling products this season – the National Bike Registry (NBR®) Pack.

Bike theft has always been a problem and this year is no different. 44 percent of law enforcement personnel responding to a Police Executive Research Forum survey reported increases in crime levels that they believe are connected to the economy, with the most significant increases being in property crime.

The NBR bike registration pack offers the gift of security for a bike and another item (a bike accessory, electronic device, or another bike) for only $10 for 10 years. The owner simply applies the NBR tamper-resistant ID label to the bike, then records the serial number and bike description in the NBR database which is searchable by police nationwide. This increases the chances of getting your stolen bike back.

NBR packs are perfect for consumers who want to safeguard their new, and not so new, bikes and can be obtained at participating retailers like REI, police departments, or online at www.nationalbikeregistry.com and www.boomerangit.com. In addition, BoomerangIt also offers packages for mobile electronics, luggage, travel and sports gear. Prices start at just $6.25 for a pack of two labels and two luggage tags, good for 10 years.

May is National Bike Month. Are You Ready?

May 13, 2009

NBR Bike Registry Pack

May is National Bike Month and the League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week this week (May 11-15) and Bike-to-Work Day this Friday, May 15.

With bicycling increasing its popularity as a preferred method of transportation, participation in Bike to Work activities around the country is expected to increase as well. According the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, the percentage of trips to work by bicycle in 2005-2007 was 0.45 percent (617,708 of 136,926,294) compared to 0.36% (465,206 of 128,617,952) in 2002. In 2007 alone, this percentage increased to 0.48 percent (664,859 of 139,259,684) (U.S. Census Bureau, 2007 American Community Survey) reflecting a 33% percent increase in the past 5 years.

While many of us will take our bikes to work this week, measures should be taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. Bike safety is a big concern when bike commuting. Along with a helmet and a good bike lock, a bike registration with the National Bike Registry (NBR®) – the only nationwide system – is one of the most important accessories you should have. Here’s a chance to get one.

In celebration of National Bike Month and to promote bicycle safety, starting this week every Friday we’ll be giving away FREE registry packs and ID labels to the first four people who send us a message on Twitter. NBR also offers free bike registry and educational materials if you’re organizing bike events in your community or workplace. To request free materials, e-mail us at nbr@boomerangit.com
